When customers fail to mention extra items or areas that will be difficult to access when requesting a moving quote, they are almost guaranteed to be charged more than expected.

Remember that there is an art as well as a science to moving, and that every relocation is unique. The best way to cut down on moving costs is to have as little left to chance as possible when the movers arrive. Boxes are some of the lightest things to move, but they take up a disproportionate amount of time during a move. If we’re not helping you pack, another time-saver is using boxes of the same size and double-checking that they’re sealed and labeled for the movers. Pile them high so the movers can quickly and easily load up the dolly and get going. The movers will be happy to disassemble your furniture, but it will still take some time. To save time, you can try taking apart any beds, desks, etc. Everything you can do on your own or to speed up the movers’ work will help you save money.

Hiring movers is the best way to ensure a smooth and risk-free relocation. Physical and mental exhaustion are common during relocations, and special moving skills and experience are needed to safely transport fragile or large items. Like any other trade, moving requires specialized tools and training to be done effectively and safely.

You should plan your relocation as far in advance as you can. The more time you have to organize your relocation, the more options you’ll have for picking a time and day that works for you. If possible, please get in touch with us at least two weeks before the day you’d like to move. We try to work with customers at the last minute because we know it’s not always possible for them to plan ahead.

In the event that you realize you will not be completely packed by moving day, you must notify your move coordinator immediately. Together, you two can come up with the most optimal “plan b” for your belongings. The movers may need to help you finish packing. Alternately, if we have the flexibility, we can postpone your move date so you have more time to get everything ready. However, it is important to understand that this will add time to the job and, consequently, add to the total cost of the move if you only have a few items left to pack.
